NTA Issues Advisory for CUET UG 2026 Candidates: Here’s What You Need to Know

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has stepped in with an important notice for students appearing in the upcoming Common University Entrance Test. The examination preparations have reached an advanced stage because the agency needs to address a major issue which all aspirants must understand. The CUET UG 2026 photo mismatch advisory exists because discrepancies occurred during document screening, which requires candidates to prepare their credentials before the examination period starts. The test will take place between May 11 and May 31, 2026, which allows for actions to be taken, but the available time for those actions is limited.

What Triggered the Advisory?

The CUET (UG) 2026 application period lasted from January 3 until February 4 2026 with a correction period available between February 23 and 26, which allowed applicants to make changes. During the subsequent verification process, NTA noticed that a section of candidates had submitted identity documents other than Aadhaar. The online application process recorded live photographs which did not match the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) database photographs in many instances. The agency issued NTA CUET UG 2026 guidelines to assist students whose identities faced authenticity concerns because the document showed them as unauthorized persons.

Who Is Affected and What Must They Do?

The candidates whose photographs could not be matched with official records received communication from NTA about this problem. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has developed a CUET photo mismatch solution through its new structured process.

The affected candidates need to present a document that includes their signature and official stamp together with a current passport-sized picture. The certificate needs to obtain official verification from an authorised person who can be either your school principal or college headmaster. A Class-I Gazetted Officer including a Tehsildar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) or District Magistrate can serve as an alternative official when the required officials are not present. The Indian Embassy official who works in their home country can provide attestation for candidates who live outside India.

How to Complete the CUET 2026 Attested Certificate Upload

The process for CUET 2026 attested certificate upload is straightforward but time-bound. NTA has sent personalised links to the registered email IDs of affected candidates. Candidates must use this link to submit their attested certificate which needs to be uploaded as a PDF document. The upload deadline which existed between April 7 and April 10 2026 required immediate action from all applicants who had not yet completed their tasks.

The process of completing this task requires more than digital submission. Candidates need to present both an attested certificate and a printed hard copy of the document to their exam centre on examination day. The invigilators will use this document for physical verification purposes.
