From today, August 5, registrations for NEET UG Counselling 2026 are open, and if you cleared the exam, this is the bit where things get real. MCC handles this particular counselling round — 15% All India Quota seats, and 100% AIQ for AIIMS, INIs, JIPMER, AFMC, Deemed to be Universities, etc.

Quick thing to get out of the way first: this isn’t the process for every seat in the country. Around 85% goes through state quota, and states run that entirely on their own — separate portal, separate rules, separate deadlines. So don’t expect MCC’s website to handle that side of things for you.

Where to Actually Look for Updates

There’s always a flood of “breaking news” on WhatsApp groups and random Telegram channels during counselling season. Skip all that. For anything to do with NEET UG Counselling 2026 Registration, these three sites are the only ones worth trusting:

Website

What it’s for

mcc.nic.in

Registration, choice filling, seat allotment, reporting

neet.nta.nic.in

Scorecard and exam records

Anything you see outside of these — treat it as unverified until proven otherwise.

Round 1 Dates — Save These Somewhere You’ll Actually Check

This is honestly where most people slip up. Missing a deadline in medical counselling isn’t a minor inconvenience, it can cost you the seat entirely. Here’s the full MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 1 schedule:

Event

Date

Registration opens

August 5, 2026

Registration closes

August 12, 2026

Fee payment deadline

August 12, 2026

Choice filling

August 6 – August 13, 2026

Choice locking

August 12, 2026- August 13, 2026

Seat allotment processing

August 13 – August 16, 2026

Round 1 result

August 17, 2026

Reporting to college

August 18 – August 22, 2026

Verification by institutes

August 23, 2026

Round 2 registration opens

August 25, 2026

Set an alarm for the choice-locking window specifically. It’s a tight few hours, and once it shuts, there’s no reopening it for you.

What’s Actually Different This Year

MCC hasn’t just moved a few dates around this time. There are some real changes to how the whole process works, and if you’re new to MCC NEET UG counselling, it’s worth understanding before you dive in. The big one is a one-time physical reporting rule:

• Pick Freeze, and you’ll head to the college once, to finish admission formalities in person.

• Pick Float, and you stay in the running for a better seat in later rounds. Document verification stays online in this case — you’d only need to physically show up after Round 3, and only if you’re still holding a seat at that point.

A few smaller but genuinely useful changes:

• You can now surrender an allotted seat online, no campus visit required

• Document verification is fully online this year

• NRI admissions have moved to a digitised process

• More provisions have been added for PwBD candidates

• Portal security has been tightened up

• Grievance redressal is supposed to move faster this time

Whether it all works smoothly on the ground, we’ll find out once candidates actually start using it. But at least on paper, it cuts down a lot of unnecessary back-and-forth to campus.

Documents — Get These Ready Now, Not Later

Portals tend to buckle when everyone logs in at once close to a deadline, so don’t be the person hunting for a missing certificate at 11 pm. Keep both scans and originals of:

• NEET UG 2026 scorecard and admit card

• Class 10 certificate (date of birth proof)

• Class 12 mark sheet and passing certificate

• Valid government photo ID

• Passport and postcard-sized photos (which were uploaded in the NEET Application Form)

• Category certificate — SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS, if it applies to you

• PwBD certificate, if applicable

• Domicile certificate, where required

• NRI candidature documents, if you’re applying under that quota

• Anything else specifically listed in the MCC Information Bulletin, or asked for later by your allotted college

After You Register, What’s Next

Registration first, then fee payment, then choice filling, then locking your choices in before the deadline hits. Once that’s done, your final seat depends on your NEET UG 2026 rank, your category, the order you ranked your preferences, and how many seats are actually available that round.

If there’s one thing to take away — don’t sit on this. Register early, keep your paperwork sorted well in advance, and only trust updates coming from the official MCC website. Everything else floating around right now is just noise.

Alright, it’s finally here.
