That’s the moment of panic. For me, it was my first-year C Programming (CP) mid-semester. I stared at my paper and just… blanked. I barely passed. I was completely lost and looking at a definite backlog. The thought hits you hard: “How did this happen? I\u2019m an IITian.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My first piece of advice: Stop. Breathe. A backlog isn’t a life sentence; it is a problem that needs a strategy. So, for everyone asking, “How to clear my backlogs in engineering?” Here is the no-panic plan that actually works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, try to bond with a ‘padhaku’ (studious) senior. They might seem boring, but they know exactly which topics matter and can save you hours of work.

It\u2019s also okay to be honest. I have gone to a prof, acted a bit naive, and said, “Sir, this subject is very weak for me,” and they often guide you. Keep good relations with your teachers; it helps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One thing VMC taught me was to understand the basics from the start, practice in a copy, and make proper notes. In IITs, it is easy to just fall into the trap of reading PDFs. Don’t. That VMC habit of writing things down is a lifesaver and helps you so much more than just reading. Practice the numericals your prof solved in class. It\u2019s highly likely that the exact same type of question, sometimes even with the same data, will show up on your exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You can’t do this alone. Find a group of friends who actually study. It’s so important to have helpful batchmates. The less jealousy you have between friends, the more everyone helps each other. You’ll be surprised by who ends up helping you in a tough spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We have tools now that we didn’t have before. Use AI like ChatGPT or Gemini to summarize a long, boring PDF or explain a concept you’re stuck on. It’s a great study aid for difficult subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A tough semester or a backlog feels like a failure. It’s not. Trust me, college exams are not as hard as the JEE Advanced. Just chill. In the end, “sab hojata” (it all gets done).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Study late into the night, work with your friends, and honestly, just embrace it. These are the days and the challenges you\u2019ll miss when you\u2019re in a corporate job, just like you miss school now. It\u2019s all part of the learning. <\/p>\n\n 3.
