NEET Qualifying Cutoff Trends (Marks)
Qualifying cutoff = minimum marks to pass NEET (50th percentile for UR/EWS, 40th for OBC/SC/ST). Qualifying is NOT the same as getting a seat — admission cutoffs are far higher.

How Your NEET Rank Is Decided
1
Marking Scheme
180 questions × 4 marks = 720 maximum. +4 for correct, −1 for wrong, 0 for unattempted. Your raw score decides everything — NEET has no normalization across a single national paper.
2
All India Rank (AIR)
All ~23 lakh candidates are sorted by marks. Higher marks = better (smaller) AIR. Thousands of students share the same marks, which is why the same score maps to a rank RANGE, not one number.
3
Tie-Breaking Rules
Equal marks are separated by: higher Biology marks → higher Chemistry marks → higher Physics marks → fewer incorrect answers (subject-wise), in that order.
4
Percentile
Percentile = (Candidates below you ÷ Total candidates) × 100. UR/EWS need the 50th percentile to qualify; OBC/SC/ST need the 40th.
5
Category Rank
Along with AIR, NTA publishes your rank within your category. MCC and state counselling use AIR for open seats and category rank for reserved seats.
6
From Rank to College
Once your rank is estimated, use the VMC NEET College Predictor to see which government MBBS, BDS and deemed university seats fall in your range.

What Is the NEET Rank Predictor Tool?

The NEET Rank Predictor is a data-driven marks-to-rank calculator for NEET UG aspirants. A score alone doesn’t tell you where you stand among ~20 lakh candidates — this tool interpolates your marks against the official NEET 2026 marks distribution and returns your expected AIR range, most likely rank, percentile and category-wise qualifying check, plus a clear zone reading: government MBBS contention, state quota range, or deemed/BDS backup zone. It is free, instant, and requires no login.

How to Use the NEET Rank Predictor: Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Calculate your expected marks. Match your responses with the official NTA answer key: +4 for every correct answer, −1 for every wrong answer, 0 for unattempted, out of 720 maximum (180 questions).
  2. Enter your marks. Type your NEET score in the Rank Predictor tab or the quick box at the top of the page.
  3. Select your category. UR, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC or ST — the qualifying check uses the official 2026 thresholds (213 for UR/EWS, 177 for reserved categories).
  4. Click “Predict My Rank”. Instantly see your expected AIR range (±10% band), most likely rank, percentile and qualifying status.
  5. Take your rank to the College Predictor. Use it in the VMC NEET College Predictor to shortlist government MBBS, BDS, AIIMS and deemed university options, then plan MCC and state counselling choices.

500+90,780State quota competitive zone

Remember: the percentile thresholds are fixed (50th/45th/40th); only the marks corresponding to them move each year with paper difficulty. Qualifying makes you eligible for counselling — government MBBS admission cutoffs sit far higher.

What Happens After Your Rank: MCC Counselling 2026 Status

With the delayed cycle (result on 16 July instead of June), MCC counselling 2026 began in August: Round 1 registration opened on 5 August, choice filling and locking ran till 18 August, and the Round 1 seat allotment result was declared on 20 August 2026 with 29,945 MBBS/BDS seats allotted. Allotted candidates report to institutes between 22–31 August, after which the Round 2 schedule is announced on mcc.nic.in. State counselling for the 85% quota runs in parallel through each state’s own authority — register in both for maximum chances.

Frequently Asked Questions

As released by NTA with the result on 16 July 2026: General/EWS 715–213 marks (50th percentile) and OBC-NCL/SC/ST 212–177 marks (40th percentile). PwBD ranges: Gen/EWS-PwBD 212–194, OBC/SC-PwBD 193–177, ST-PwBD 191–177. This was a sharp rise from 2025 (144 General, 113 reserved) because the re-exam paper was easier.

The original NEET UG 2026 held on 3 May was cancelled by NTA amid paper-leak allegations. The Re-NEET was conducted on 21 June 2026 across 5,440 centres in 551 Indian cities and 14 international cities. The result was declared on 16 July 2026, with 11.21 lakh candidates qualifying.

It is anchored to the official NEET 2026 score distribution — 19 candidates above 700, 1,492 at 650+, 10,160 at 600+, 90,780 at 500+ — with interpolation between these points. Accuracy is typically within ±10%; treat the output as a realistic range, not an exact rank.

Per the official distribution, 600 marks placed a candidate around AIR 10,000 — the strong government MBBS contention zone via AIQ and state quota combined. 520–600 was competitive in many state quotas, and reserved category requirements extended lower. In MCC Round 1 (allotment declared 20 August 2026), 29,945 MBBS/BDS seats were allotted.

Thousands of candidates score identical marks in NEET. Final positions within a marks-group depend on tie-breaking — higher Biology, then Chemistry, then Physics marks, then fewer incorrect answers — so any honest predictor reports a range.
