Introduction

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) is a public technical and research university located in the city of Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is one of the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in India and was established in 2008. The campus is located on a sprawling land of 558 acres and offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in engineering, technology, sciences, and humanities. The institute has collaborations with several international universities and research organizations, and its research focuses on areas such as computer science, materials science, and biomedical engineering.

History

The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) was established in 2008 as one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The foundation stone was laid on the site of the institute on 20 February 2007 by the then President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

It started functioning in 2008 in its temporary campus which is located at the Ordnance Factory Medak's (OFMK) campus in Yeddumailaram and shifted to its permanent campus located in Kandi, Sangareddy district. The campus was designed to be eco-friendly and energy-efficient, and with a focus on sustainability. The academic complex includes state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and computer centers. The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in engineering, technology, sciences, and humanities. The institute has collaborations with several international universities and research organizations and its research focuses on areas such as computer science, materials science, and biomedical engineering.

Campus

IIT Hyderabad is located in Kandi, Sangareddy district, Telangana, India. The campus is spread over an area of around 546 acres and comprises of various academic and research buildings, hostels, sports facilities, and residential areas for faculty and staff. The campus is known for its eco-friendly design and sustainable architecture, and has won several awards for its green initiatives. The campus also has several research centers and labs that support the research activities of the institute. Additionally, the campus also has several amenities for students such as libraries, computer centers, and a health center.

Placement

IIT Hyderabad has a strong placement record, with a large number of students getting placed in top companies every year. The institute's placement cell, known as the Training and Placement Cell, is responsible for coordinating and conducting the placement process for students.

The institute has a good reputation in the industry and attracts a large number of recruiters from different sectors like IT, core engineering, consulting, finance, and research. Many leading companies, such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, and Goldman Sachs, visit the campus to recruit students.

The placement process typically begins in the seventh semester for undergraduate students, and the fifth semester for postgraduate students. The institute also provides training and internships to students to help them prepare for the placement process. The percentage of students placed varies from year to year and it depends on the batch strength and the job market scenario. However, the placement rate is generally high and majority of the students get placed with good packages.
